Course Materials and Textbook Selection Criteria of English Language Teachers

In this study, it was tried to determine what the criteria used by English teachers working at different school levels in selection of course materials and textbooks, similarities differences were between levels. Although study is a descriptive carried out accordance with phenomenological research pattern, one qualitative designs. Prior written consent obtained from Gaziosmanpasa University Social Humanity Studies Committee Meeting decision number 11.18 on 21.05. 2021 Protocol Number: E-33490967-044-41105. The participants consist 51 language teachers, 15 primary, 17 secondary, 19 high schools. opinions taken using semi-structured guided interview form. Content analysis data done way create codes themes, they transformed into tables. According findings "visual richness" criterion majority (f=36), regardless level materials. Secondly, while primary prefer fun up-to-date materials, seen that secondary pay attention age-appropriateness entertaining It observed priorities expressed similar views. Regarding textbook visuality stated as education, paid more subjects taught. should students’ ages, genders, levels, interests goals learning choosing textbooks.
